Series Overview
In 2020 the European Commission published its policy strategy in the financial services sector: the Digital Finance Strategy. It seeks to reinvigorate competition in the financial services industry and bolster consumers’ benefit. However, after two years since its publication, progress has been relatively modest.
To contribute to the discussion of the Strategy’s core issues, the Brussels Privacy Hub is organizing a first round of seminars on crucial developments that compromise the digital finance phenomena: open finance, the digital euro and decentralized finance. The series will focus on data protection and privacy related matters due to the serious risks particularly born by those vulnerable individuals who rely on physical cash for their everyday activities. This seminar series will have the participation of key academic speakers, both senior and younger scholars, to present their ongoing research on these topics.
Our virtual seminars will run monthly from March 2023 to May 2023 for its first edition.
The sessions will be hosted online, and registration is required. Each will last for one hour where after the presentation of the speaker, discussion would follow with the series hosts and with the public.
