The Brussels Privacy Hub is pleased to share the recap of its 2026 Summer Academy, “Beyond the Omnibus,” held at VUB from 29 June to 3 July 2026. Over the course of a week, participants engaged with leading academics and practitioners on the most pressing developments in EU data protection and digital regulation, including the ongoing debates around GDPR simplification, the Data Act, and the AI Act.
Alongside the recap page, we are releasing a report co-written with Michaël Thomas (Digital Law Consultant, CRANIUM/Fellow in Cybersecurity Law, Brussels Privacy Hub) that offers a closer look at the key discussions, themes, and open questions raised throughout the programme.

We thank all speakers, partners, and participants for making this edition of the Summer Academy a success, and look forward to welcoming you again next year!
