Yesterday, the second meeting of the Special Panel on child online safety advising President von der Leyen on child online safety took place. Chaired by Maria Melchior and Prof. Jörg M. Fegert, it convened an impressive list of experts. it focused “on current EU rules and initiatives to protect minors online, shared by experts advising Member States, as well as international approaches, such as Australia’s social media minimum age.” 

Together with other experts, Sophie discussed the different chapters of the EU digital rulebook that form the pillars of the protective framework the Union has been progressively building over the years. 

To further explore the complementarity of the different chapters of the EU digital rulebook, the Brussels Privacy Hub will be kicking off the new Digital Youth Future track on the 20th of May at CPDP conference 2026.
